It is critical that you come to school everyday with the proper tools you need to be successful.
YOUR DIGITAL DEVICE. Plug in your device every night so that you have maximum battery power and you must bring it to class every single day, NO EXCEPTIONS! This has everything you need: I recommend that you also purchase insurance for your device.
Check your Digital Dashboard Daily to keep up to date on grades, missing assignments, etc. It is extremely important, as a senior, that you always know where you stand in all your classes! Go to https://adtools.rusd.k12.ca.us/dashboard/ so see your grades and attendance.
Spiral Notebook for every quarter. I will not accept the same notebook from the previous quarter. This allows you to keep all your assignments in one place.
BLACK OR BLUE INK PENS (mandatory for in-class essays)
Colored pencils for editing and drawing.
Students must accept the responsibility for bringing the needed materials to class every day. Do not expect me to loan you supplies.
Progressive Discipline Policy
Progressive Discipline Policy
1st Offense: Verbal Warning
2nd Offense: Short conference with me (may be during class, after class, etc.)
3rd Offense: After-school teacher detention for 30 minutes and phone call to parents (This is NOT pleasant! Avoid this at all costs!)
4th Offense: Discipline referral to administrative office
All discipline consequences are subject to change depending on the severity of the offense!
Homework may include reading articles at home, working on finishing writing assignments, and classwork that you didn't finish. You should expect frequent homework.
Make-up work will be given and accepted for full credit for any excused absence.
You will be given the same number of days you were absent to complete make-up work. For example, if you are ill for three days, you will be given three days to complete any make-up work. It is your responsibility to get make-up work.
All assignments will be posted on my Haiku website in the Calendar section and on my Website in the Sprial Notebook Assignments section Please check it everyday. It is your responsibility to check both sites on your digital device to see what work you need to make up. Go to www.rusdlearns.net to log into Haiku, or www.worldlitlozano.weebly.com
Tests/Quizzes: If you are absent on a test or quiz day you will need to make arrangements with me to make it up within one week. After one week, you will no longer be allowed to make up the test. Make-up tests will not be given during class because you will miss even more information! You must make an appointment with me to come in after school for make up tests. Alternate tests will be given for make-ups so that tests may be reviewed in class regardless of students who may have missed the test.
Below you will see various ways that people learn called Multiple Intelligences. My class is designed around all the different types of Multiple Intelligences so that my students can understand and remember information. It is important to me that I provide various types resources for my students to utilized based on their learning style.
The first assignment for the school year is for students to take a Multiple Intelligence Test so that they can see how they learn the best. After taking the test, students will then know which resources that I provide will benefit them the most.
In your Spiral Notebook: 1. What are your strengths and weakness? 2. Explain what you learned about taking the Multiple Intelligence Test. 3. What did you find interesting? 4. What parts of the results do you agree with? What parts of the results do you disagree with?
