1. Analyze the significance of the quote (explain how and why it is important) 2. Discuss its thematic relevance (relate the quote to a central idea in the text) 3. Respond to it in a more personal way (discuss feelings and thoughts elicited by the quote). |
Central Idea in the Text
Our narrator provides a close account of the atrocities of the war. Even those who physically survive are victims. The soldiers must learn every detail of warfare in order to survive.
